3 Read the text and answer the following questions.
Neşet Ertaş was born in 1938 in Kırşehir. He was a Turkish folk music
singer, lyricist, and virtuoso of the traditional Turkish instrument, the 21
bağlama. People know him as “Bozkırın Tezenesi”. Yaşar Kemal gave
him this nickname. His father, Muharrem Ertaş, was also a folk poet.
His mother died early. Neşet Ertaş wrote his famous song “Neredesin
Sen” for his mother. He was the second of four children. He married
Leyla in 1960 in Ankara. They had three children. They divorced after
ten years of marriage. He wrote the song “Yazımı Kışa Çevirdin” for
her. He lived in different cities in Turkey. He also spent some time
in Germany. He recorded more than 30 albums during his career. In
2006, the Turkish Grand National Assembly rewarded him the “State
Medal of Distinguished Service”. In 2010, he was honoured with the UNESCO “National Living Human
Treasure” award. He died on 25 September, 2012. He was buried at the foot of his father’s grave
in Kırşehir as he requested in his will.
